About Keystone Builders
A family-run Indianapolis contractor built on straight answers, careful work and finishing what we start.
From the job site to our own company
Gary Rutherford grew up in Warren Township and started framing houses the summer after high school. Over the next fifteen years he worked his way up from carpenter to lead superintendent for some of the larger builders in Central Indiana.
In 2009 he opened Keystone Builders & Construction Co. with a pickup truck, a borrowed trailer and a simple promise: give people an honest price, show up when we say we will, and leave every house cleaner than we found it. Our first jobs were porches and bathrooms in Irvington. Today we complete more than forty projects a year, from kitchens to commercial build-outs.
We are still owner-operated. Gary personally meets every client at the estimate, reviews every contract and walks every finished project.
Est. 2009 · IndianapolisOur values
Honesty first
Itemized estimates, clear allowances and no surprise change orders. If something unexpected comes up behind a wall, you see it before we price it.
Craftsmanship
Level, plumb and square. We follow manufacturer installation guidelines and local code on every project, even where nobody will ever see it.
Respect for your time
Written schedules, daily updates and crews that arrive on time. 98% of our projects finish on or before the agreed date.
Clean job sites
Floor protection, dust walls and a daily sweep. Your home is still your home while we work.
Paperwork done right
Permits, lien waivers, insurance certificates and warranties — organized in a project binder you keep.
Community
We hire locally, buy from Indianapolis suppliers and donate labor to neighborhood home-repair programs each year.
